pology: It distresses me to realize that I have become much too reliant on profanity to provide my punctuation, and express my indignation—my imagination, in other words, has been systematically cheapened by my frequent resort to vulgarity. Profanity : flip side of vanity : (no rhyme with sanity, inanity) : next up, infinity. [Scott butts in:] Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’re all real sorry about swearing so much, particularly on the Internet, where so many people can hear us. Not that I think fuck is a bad word. It is among the most expressive and complex and in a way beautifully multilayered and offensive words ever written. We shouldn’t have to apologize for using the word fuck in writing.
