The Unknown: The Red Line.

The mountains themselves objects of fascination. The mountains too part of the unknown. The sense of perspective becomes outrageous. The air which is thinner but more clean. Actual snowcaps. Scott and William come from Illinois. Geography there purely a matter of slight rolls in the flatness. Most hills there formed by bulldozers. The mountains describe a feeling. There, nature makes its presence known. Away from the ski resorts and the trinket parlors of the nouveau riche, birds of prey and pine trees and rare fungi reach up to a place where there is tundra, and there are no voices. Here in the mountains, all is not known. But serene, serene. All parts under trailing stars, everything breathing.
